Russian former president Medvedev: Russia is ready to go “to the borders with Poland” | War Ukraine and Russia

Russia is ready to push the Ukrainian “threat” back to the Polish border. This was announced by former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev on Friday.

One year after the start of the offensive, the number two of the Russian Security Council remains convinced that Russia will win the war in Ukraine.

“We will win. We all want it to happen as soon as possible. And that day will come,” Medvedev told Telegram. It is necessary to “reduce the limits of the threats against our country as far as possible, even if it is up to the borders with Poland.”

Whole territory

Medvedev’s statement implies that Russia would take all of Ukraine’s territory, which initially also seemed to be the goal of the ‘special military operation’ in Ukraine. But after some military setbacks, the focus of the Russian army has shifted to eastern and southern Ukraine.

“Necessary”

Medvedev also believes that a complete overthrow of the current government in Kiev is necessary. Otherwise, even after the war, the risk remains that “new bloodthirsty guys calling themselves the legal Ukrainian government will provoke another global conflict”.

Outspoken supporter

Dmitry Medvedev, once described as a rather liberal figure within the Russian regime, is today one of the most outspoken supporters of the offensive against Ukraine.

In his Telegram statement, he again describes the Kiev government as “neo-Nazis” who are committing a “genocide” against Russian-speaking Ukrainians. That unfounded claim was also used by the Kremlin as a pretext for its invasion of Ukraine a year ago.
