Figure skater Kamila Valieva17, a four-year doping scandal has angered Russia.

Even the Kremlin and the president commented on the matter Vladimir Putin spokesman Dmitry Peskov. The sports appeals court CAS announced the Russian athlete’s ban on Monday.

– In my opinion, the decision is of course political. Of course, we do not agree with the decision, Peskov commented news agency Tassile.

According to Peskov, Russia must protect its athletes.

– If there is a way to complain, it should be used.

Ice dance Olympic champion Roman Kostomarov on the other hand hinted that the Russian athlete had been deliberately treated more harshly than the others.

– Four years is a cruel decision. If there is a precedent, CAS and the International Olympic Committee will treat the Russians with the cruelest possible decision, Kostomarov said Match for tv.

Valijeva herself published a video compilation of her competitions on her Instagram account. He added a heart emoji to it.

Strict criticism

Dmitri Peskov hoped that the decision would be appealed. PDO

Valieva gave a positive doping test on December 25, 2021, but the result became public during the Beijing Olympics in February 2022.

Valieva, only 15 years old, had already skated in the Russian team, which won the Olympic gold in the team competition. Due to various twists and turns, he was able to continue competing.

On Monday, CAS announced that all results made by Valieva after December 25, 2021 have been invalidated.

According to Wada, the World Anti-Doping Agency, CAS’ decision was welcome.

– Doping children is unforgivable. Doctors, coaches and other team employees who are found to have administered performance-enhancing substances to minors should experience the full force of world anti-doping rules, Wada thundered in a statement.

– Wada encourages governments to consider entering doping of minors into the criminal code. This has already been done in some countries.

CEO of USADA, the US anti-doping agency Travis Tygart demanded that the International Skating Union ISU redistribute the Beijing medals with Valieva’s discus.

Tygart shared some harsh criticism.

– Russia hijacked the 2014 Olympics. It was caught in the act of running a state-led doping program. Once again, those whose job it is to protect Olympians and athletes, allowed Russia to endanger the health of its own athletes while robbing clean athletes and fans of an opportunity for an honest, fair and authentic Olympic competition.

If you don’t see the announcement, you can take a look its here.

According to the Russian media, the ISU Council will meet on February 7. At that time, it is therefore possible to decide on the loss of Russia’s Olympic gold.

Valieva will be released from her competition ban in 2025.
