Russia was left out of the 2024 European Football Championship

In Russia, people are worried about the future of football in the country.

Russia was one of the hosts in the 2020 European Championship. PDO

The Russian men’s national football team will not participate in the 2024 European Championship qualifiers. The Russian Football Federation confirmed that the international competitions in Russia will continue for the time being.

The national teams were disqualified from this year’s women’s EC tournament and the upcoming men’s World Cup tournament in Qatar at the end of the year.

Russia got permission to play its grueling practice matches against Kyrgyzstan, Iran and Bosnia-Herzegovina in the fall. For example, the Bosnian midfielder Anel Ahmedhodzic told for Aftonbladet that he is completely opposed to confronting Russia.

Bosnian captain Edin Dzeko was on the same lines as his teammate.

– I am always for peace. As captain, I want to make it clear that I don’t want to play a match when innocent people suffer, Dzeko told Aftonbladet.

Germany will host the next European Championships, the qualifying groups of which will be drawn on October 9. Belarus is likely to participate in the draw, although many have criticized the country’s participation. Among other things, the German Minister of the Interior Nancy Faeser asked in a letter to remove Belarus from the qualifiers.

“Were you expecting something else?”

The continuation of the curfew has been received in Russia as expected. Being left out of international games is predicted to collapse the level of football in the country.

– The Russian national team loses a lot when we miss the World Cup and European Championships. We can’t know what will happen next. Players dream of these tournaments, the forward who played for Spartak Moscow Alexander Mostovoi comment For Match TV.

– It is difficult to benefit from this. Young players need to make a breakthrough and develop. Young people need to play against the best to know their level. Now they face Kyrgyzstan.

Ex-national team player Andrei Arshavin also shared his experiences. In 2008, Arshavin was involved in winning the EC bronze for Russia.

– Were you expecting something else? Now is not the time to hope for good results. It is certain that until this situation is over, we will not move forward in any sport, Arshavin commented to the Russian media.
