Jim Carrey is no longer allowed to enter Russia. The actor (“The Truman Show”) is on a criminal list with 100 other politicians, scientists, artists and entrepreneurs – among them the writer Margaret Atwood. On Monday (November 14) the Russian Foreign Ministry published the names of the sanctioned persons in Moscow.

Carrey called Putin the “great political idiot of history”

They are accused of being involved in “forming the aggressive anti-Russian course” in Canada. Atwood, for example, had taken part in anti-war demonstrations, and Carrey had repeatedly expressed his solidarity with Ukraine. On February 27 – three days after the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine – he tweeted in translated words: “It breaks my heart to see innocent people (especially children) being attacked by another grandiose political idiot of the history are jeopardized. Beware of the unloved.”

Canada is one of Ukraine’s strongest supporters internationally. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau pledged another $500 million in military aid on Monday.
