Russia declares readiness to negotiate with Ukraine in Belarus

  • The Ukrainian authorities have so far refused to enter into dialogue with the Kremlin in a country allied with Putin.

The Kremlin has assured this Sunday to be willing to negotiate with Ukraine in the city of Gomel, in Belarus. A delegation of representatives from “the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Defense and other services, including the presidential administration, has arrived in Belarus to negotiate with the Ukrainians,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitri Peskov said, according to national agencies.

“Everything is ready to start these negotiations in Gomel,” a city in southeastern Belarus, a short distance from the Russian and Ukrainian borders, he added.

However, until now Ukraine has rejected the offer to negotiate in Belarus, since it is a Putin’s ally countrywhich has allowed Russian troops to enter Ukraine through its territory.

The offer of dialogue comes after Russia has failed to take any of the large cities of the Slavic country or overthrow the Ukrainian president, Volodímir Zelensky, after three days of military offensive.
