Athlete Mikky Keetels has won the Vancouver marathon. The 27-year-old Dutch marathon champion completed the 42.195 kilometers in a time of 2:33:01, well under the old course record of 2:34:27.
This made her 24 seconds faster than Dayna Pidhoresky from Canada, who had won the marathon a year earlier.
Keetels won her Dutch title in the marathon three weeks ago. The athlete then finished the Rotterdam marathon in a personal record of 2.30.42. After the Rotterdam marathon, she announced that she would also compete in the triathlon in June.
