The Hoogeveen runner Harm-Jan Martens has become the winner of the Playground Run in Hollandscheveld over 5000 meters in 16 minutes and 33 seconds.
On the line he was 35 seconds faster than his fellow townsman Caleb Hoogeveen. Mink de Jong (Vroomshoop) crossed the finish line in third place 1.03 minutes after Martens.
Mariëlle Lensen from Tiendeveen was the first woman to cross the finish line in 18.43 minutes. She was followed at 37 seconds by home favorite Lidia Meijer. Antien van der Vegt from Zuidwolde in Drenthe completed the fastest three; she lost 2.34 minutes to the winner.
The Playground Run was held for the 35th time. The 10,000 meter distance was dropped from the program a few years ago due to insufficient interest.
