Rumors about Jonas Urbig are getting hotter

On the one hand, FC Bayern is working on retaining Manuel Neuer beyond the current season, but on the other hand, the Munich team wants to build a young keeper in the background. Jonas Urbig from 1. FC Köln is obviously in particular focus.

The rumors about a possible move from Jonas Urbig to FC Bayern are becoming more and more intense. Already in October, “Bild” and “Sky” reported that the German record champions were watching the U21 national goalkeeper and that the Munich team had already loosely inquired about the goalkeeper of 1. FC Köln, who lost his regular place after ten match days.

Now the “kicker” reports that Urbig is “high on the list” at FC Bayern. Accordingly, those responsible should toy with the idea of signing a young keeper next summer, who will be built up behind the then 39-year-old Manuel Neuer and who will develop with the help of the 2014 world champion.

The Bayern bosses really like Urbig in this regard, the football trade magazine continues, and the club is working intensively with him. The 21-year-old could become a hot topic next year, believes the “kicker”. And the good news: Neuer is supposed to support the keeper development plan of those responsible and wants to promote the young wild one.

FC Bayern currently has to do without Neuer

Before Neuer can do that, the contract with the former national goalkeeper must first be extended. Neuer’s working paper expires after the current season. Recently, several media reports said that the 38-year-old can easily imagine hanging on for another year.

This weekend, Neuer also revealed at a fan club meeting that things are looking good regarding an extension.

“I think both sides would be happy if things continued,” said Neuer, but also added: “But there’s no rush now. I have to get healthy first.”

After breaking a rib, Neuer will not return to goal until 2025. Daniel Peretz is currently in goal for Munich. The Israeli should probably be awarded in the summer of 2025.

Urbig, who is tied to 1. FC Köln until 2026, was recently linked with a move to Bayer Leverkusen.
