Ruinerwoldigers celebrate a full summer party. ‘The Tied turns door’ wins the parade

The holidays are over and schools have started again. Nearly all villages in the region have now raised the festive flag. However, for the inhabitants of Ruinerwold there was still a party ahead. They wanted to know that too. They visited the marquee in large numbers. The party did have a blemish: after beer throwing, the performance had to be discontinued on Saturday evening.

Numerous activities were scheduled from Wednesday to Sunday evening. One of the highlights was the traditional procession of decorated chariots. The party in Ruinerwold was again built around a number of important pillars and spearheads this year, such as the Talent Show and the Quiz Evening on Wednesday evening. And the latter again proved to be a bull’s eye with fun questions, DIY assignments and music fragments. Outgoing chairman Martin Scheper welcomed a full marquee. No fewer than 29 teams had registered for this. ‘Easy Sat’ (Wietse Wagenaar) became the big winner with 95 points.

On Thursday the tent was set up for the card players and darts players. In the clover jackets, Ingrid van Dijk was the winner. In the joker game it was Gerda Kats. The winners in the darts were Arjan and Robert. Under the motto: ‘nice through the village, with lots of goodies’ there was a School Day on Friday.

Abba and Queen

This year, the Zomerfeest Foundation had spared no expense to unpack on Friday evening. The party tent was even made two span pockets larger. It became a flashback to the 70s and 80s with music by Abba and Queen. Dancing Queen, Mamma Mia and Waterloo: not a single top hit was skipped by Abba Fever. And ‘Queen Forever’ also amazed everyone with their interpretation of the legendary British rock formation ‘Queen’.

Traditional procession

Party or no party, the Ruinerwoldigers had to get up early on Saturday morning for the traditional parade. At 9.00 am the inspection of cars of private persons, associations, school car and individuals started. It was clear to see that a lot of time and energy had been invested in setting up the cars recently. As it turned out, quality still trumps quantity. Beautiful creations and clever ideas passed by during the parade. A total of 31 cars and 15 private individuals took part.

The first prize in the private cars went to ‘De Tied Draai door’. For the school cars it was: Pirate ship. And for the individuals: ‘Excited by the Summer Festival’. The men from ER Sound ensured that it remained pleasant in the tent for a long time. The fairground people also did good business on Saturday afternoon. Here it was especially pressing for the whirligig and the bumper cars. The other attractions also had no complaints about interest.

throwing beer

Topband ‘This is Beethoven’ was contracted for the big party on Saturday night. It didn’t take much to put the tent upside down. A beer-throwing incident over the band’s mixing desk made it impossible to continue playing. Erwin Flik, the new chairman, did not have a good word for it: “An idiot ruins it for the rest, too bad, because the mood was good.”

Sunday morning was the tent for the joint churches. There was singing and stimulating Bible stories passed by during this special service. For the first time no playback show at the summer party in Ruinerwold, but a talent show: Ruunerwold Hef Talent! Because many visitors wanted to ensure a good seat, most seats were taken early in the afternoon. Not only the youth showed themselves here, adults also showed that there are still enough talents walking around in the village. Such as the 16-year-old drummer Tim Wienen who showed a smashing drum solo. KaramBam closed the party.
