Bridget Maasland has understood that her boss Peter van der Vorst does not like to relegate Arjen Lubach. “We have now heard that Arjen does not fully fit in.”
RTL 4 can try one more thing to save the flopped RTL Tonight and that is the broadcasting time. Now the talk show starts in a rise in late because first Arjen Lubach still has to tell all his VPRO jokes. Tina Nijkamp has advised RTL to put Arjen after RTL Tonight from now on, so that that new prestige project does not start so enormously.
No relegation
Bridget Maasland now reveals that that is not going to happen. “We have now heard that perhaps Lubach may not fit all the way and maybe go to later, and that Tonight should not be so late, because then it is also a bit of a repeat of the evening,” she says to the desk of RTL Boulevard.
She continues: “We also asked Peter van der Vorst for a response and I think he is not going to put Lubach later. He wants to try it that way, right?”
Ingredients
Yes, TV connoisseur Rob Goossens. “So the makers have to make do with the ingredients they have. There is also that Lubach is only on a channel for part of the year.”
RTL Tonight is currently not scoring well on Non-Lubach evenings. “On Friday and Sunday evening the program will never be bothered by that, so they have to get it going. I think it starts with those clients. If they sit there as a beaten dog …”
Attributed
The RTL modes are too shy. Bridget: “I am very much a fan of Ben van der Burg and actually also many others who sit there and yet it doesn’t really work in those first few weeks. It may be too rough, yes. Maybe too much is paid to it and therefore everyone is a bit in panic too quickly.”
Luuk Ikink: “Every word that the clients say and what they indicate is now on a scales. They find that exciting of course.”
In the pan
The late evening may be too abrupt and too rigorously turned upside down, says Bridget. “There is already too much stirred in the pan. Maybe that whole change has been a bit much at once.”
You would say that RTL Tonight will disappear from the tube after this week, but according to Luuk that is not the case: “Twan Huys naturally had about half a year, so they will also get that. If it continues to fail, the end of story is, I assume.”
