RTL 4 viewers zap en masse at ‘bruising fair’ Marieke Elsinga

The lost TV viewer must have wondered last night whether Irene Moors is back at De TV Kantine. But no, she was really drumming on a shuffleboard without a wig on.

Marieke Elsinga has stopped at RTL Boulevard because she is ready for a new challenge. Her first project? A show in which Irene Moors runs across the stage like a crazy type from De TV Kantine. You sometimes hear people complain about creative poverty, but this is just a creative mental bewilderment.

Zapping at Marieke

After the successful season premiere of Make Up Your Mind, good for 1.1 million viewers and a 21 percent market share, RTL 4 viewers zapped away en masse last night when Marieke came into the picture with Alles is Muziek. Only 569 thousand people (14 percent) stayed. And from the reactions, it can be concluded that that number is not going to increase any more.

Viewers are amazed at what they were presented with: Jeroen van Koningsbrugge who crawled out of his apocalypse bunker to race across the stage with a toy duck, a Eurovision singer who performs with a can of road salt in his hand and Irene Moors who smashes glass cola bottles on the stage. What is this all about?

Brutal Fair

Everything is Music is being denounced en masse on Twitter. “Boy, what a bruise fair that is,” says Richard. And Ferry: “What a sad display this is. Can’t a test image be sent out?”

Ben is also shocked. “I watch it because I want to give it a chance, but so far I think it’s a bland and childish program. This is probably the first and last time I look at it.”

And Andrew: “Another low point in the history of Dutch TV: Everything is Music. Panelists mimic the sound of a flare and guess the sound of a kettle…”

What does Tina say?

TV prophet Tina Nijkamp has already seen this coming. “It’s too messy and there’s no clear purpose why they have to imitate a song with objects. You don’t hear those ‘instruments’ very well either. Too bad for Marieke and the team, but it’s a bit too ‘childish’ and too little special, I’m afraid”, she wrote last night.

She finds her right in the many road zappers. “Unfortunately, the score is not easy”, writes them today. “Almost half of them skip out after Make Up Your Mind. Oh dear. And it is also less than what Humberto scored on Saturday last weeks (674, 780 and 739 thousand). Not a nice start to the Easter viewing figure for Marieke Elsinga.”
