RTL 4 hit De Verraders may be back with unknown Dutch people

RTL 4 may make a series of De Verraders with unknown Dutch people as candidates. “It is certainly an option that we are looking at,” says program boss Peter van der Vorst.

De Verraders has been a great success on RTL 4 since the first episode. As with most programs of this kind, the field of candidates consists entirely of Dutch celebrities. “Sometimes I also wish it were different, because then we have much more choice,” explains channel boss Peter van der Vorst in conversation with Veronica Superguide.

‘It’s an option’

Why can’t it be any other way? You let Samantha Steenwijk and her long toes sit on the couch at home and you invite Corine from Amersfoort; sounds simple. But according to Peter it is not that simple at all.

Peter explains that the viewer wants to see familiar faces. “We notice that titles work better if the viewer already knows the participants in a certain way. In Great Britain it is different.”

Still, he will think about an edition with ON’ers. “It’s definitely an option we’re looking at.”

World success

Peter is pleased that De Traitors is such a great success. “After The Voice, this is actually the first RTL program to travel around the world in this way, really cool. When it was presented to us, the basis was already there, but we were not there yet.”

He concludes: “After our people started working on it together with producer IDTV, we ended up playing it in my backyard at home. Within two minutes we felt: this is something.”
