Royal HFC beats champion Katwijk, Jong Volendam awaits post-competition

The second place is still achievable for Royal HFC. This afternoon champion Katwijk was convincingly defeated 4-1. Jim Hulleman gave HFC the lead within ten minutes this afternoon. Katwijk did something back via Ahmed El Azzouti, but after the break the home team was clearly too strong. There was nothing at stake for the champion of the second division and Wessel Boer, Mehmet Yüksel and Jacob Noordmans took advantage of: 4-1.

In Hardenberg, HHC will be the opponent next week. With a win, Koninklijke HFC finishes in second place. In the event of a draw or defeat, the Rijnsburgse Boys can still knock the Haarlemmers out of the top 3 marbles.

Victory Young Volendam

In the game between Quick Boys and Jong Volendam it was already 1-1 after seven minutes. Quick Boys goalkeeper Paul van der Helm scored an own goal after Jordi Blom hit the crossbar. The ball entered the goal through the back of the keeper. Youssef El Kachati quickly equalized.

Sem van Duijn helped Jong Volendam in the second half. The home side’s player pushed hard on Derry John Murkin and was shown a red card. With one man more, the North Hollanders ran out to 1-3 by goals from Jay Koorndijk and 16-year-old Imran Nazih.

Because Jong Volendam does not finish in the top nine, it will play two games on Wednesday 8 and Saturday 11 June against Jong Almere City, the winner of the U23 competition. The winner of that game will play in the second division next season.

AFC draws after early deficit

For AFC, fifth place next week is the highest achievable. This afternoon it was 2-2 against TEC in Tiel. The home team started strong and, thanks to Bo van Essen, made it 2-0 within half an hour. Raily Ignacio narrowed the deficit in the 35th minute, after which Kenny Teijsse equalized in the final phase.

In Amsterdam, IJsselmeervogels, the number 13 of the second division, will be the last opponent of the season for AFC next week. With a defeat of Jong Sparta Rotterdam, Uli Landvreugd’s team can still finish fifth.
