Rovanperä defends lead in Croatia

The Finn Kalle Rovanperä (Toyota) successfully defended his lead in the Rally Croatia on Saturday.

At the end of the second day, the 21-year-old was 19.9 seconds ahead of his closest pursuer, Ott Tänak from Estonia (Hyundai). Craig Breen (Ireland/Ford/+1:13.4) follows in third place.

Rovanperä is thus heading towards his second win in a row. Only at the last stop in Sweden did he triumph and thus take the overall lead in the World Championship.

The Norwegian Oliver Solberg and his co-driver Elliott Edmondson (Hyundai) suffered a moment of shock. On the very first leg of the day, Solberg lost control of his car and went off the road.

The car struck backwards and then caught fire. The stage was abandoned, both riders were unhurt.
