“Route is not without risk”: Dutch woman does not dare to go to the airport with children to be evacuated from Sudan

The first Belgians are on their way from Sudan with an evacuation flight organized by the Netherlands or France. Yet not everyone is eager to be evacuated by plane. Namarig Shnan from Amsterdam, together with her two children, was visiting her sick father in the capital Khartoum when violence broke out between the army and paramilitaries. She thinks the risk is too great to go to the airport to be evacuated from there to the Netherlands. That is why she chooses to take the bus to neighboring Egypt, to fly back to the Netherlands from there.
