DORTMUND (dpa-AFX) – Borussia Dortmund (BVB (Borussia Dortmund))’s personnel worries are easing ahead of the Champions League playoff second leg at Atalanta Bergamo on Wednesday (6:45 p.m./DAZN). At the final training session, alongside Nico Schlotterbeck, who was recently injured, Emre Can, who had been injured for a long time, was back on the pitch. And both are at least in the squad.
During the 15 public minutes of the session, the national soccer players trained with the team. Almost two hours later, the club confirmed that they were flying to Bergamo. The important Champions League game will take place there on Wednesday evening, three days before the Bundesliga summit against FC Bayern Munich (Saturday, 6.30 p.m./Sky).
Captain Can had been out since the end of January with adductor problems and missed five competitive games for BVB during this time. A deployment for the starting eleven on Wednesday evening would probably come too early despite the personnel problems.
Süle and Mané are still missing
Things look different at Schlotterbeck. The national soccer player, who missed the 2-0 first leg win against Bergamo due to muscle problems, is likely to be in the starting line-up. Especially since BVB coach Niko Kovac will still have to do without defensive players Niklas Süle and Filippo Mané.
In the playoff first leg, Waldemar Anton and Ramy Bensebaini formed the three-man defense chain together with starting eleven debutant Luca Reggiani. The trio remained clean./kam/DP/jha
