HANNOVER (dpa-AFX) – After catenary damage in Hanover had a significant impact on rail traffic, the affected route has been reopened. A spokeswoman for Deutsche Bahn announced that the damage had been repaired.
Due to the damage to the overhead line, there were delays in Deutsche Bahn’s long-distance transport, as well as in regional transport and the Regio-S-Bahn. “Train traffic between Hanover and Lehrte was temporarily affected,” a railway spokesman said in the afternoon. Repair work had been underway since around 1 p.m.
Trains had to be rerouted
Because of the damage to the overhead line, long-distance trains were rerouted – partly via Hildesheim and Braunschweig. According to Deutsche Bahn, the ICE lines from North Rhine-Westphalia via Hanover to Berlin and the IC line from Norddeich Mole via Hanover towards Dresden were affected. The defective overhead line also caused problems on the Regio-S-Bahn./len/DP/he
