The Eurovision Committee has been decided: the very young musical talent Claude (21) will represent the Netherlands in the Eurovision Song Contest next year, because he has submitted a song that is said to have worldwide hit potential. It’s a shame, says Shownieuws expert Ronald Molendijk. He had also made a submission himself.

Pitch black day

Presenter Airen Mylene points this out Show news. “We need to talk about the pitch-black day it must be for you, because you also submitted a song.”

Ronald: “Yes, I submitted a song once this year.”

Airen: “How big was the disappointment?”

Ronald: “Ehh, well, not that big for me, but I did that with a boy who also has a lot of stage experience, also internationally.”

With whom?

Airen wonders who Ronald wanted to go with. “And then you’re not going to say with whom?”

Ronald: “No, because we are still going to release the song, of course.”

Story boss Guido den Aantrekker: “You also wanted to do it yourself, right?”

Ronald agrees. “Yes, of course, then I would have been on the podium too. Although not in a Pino suit, but as someone who makes the keys and beats, because it’s all playback, right? Only the vocals are live. I would have waved at you. Was that the next question?”

Song submitted

Ronald is always very concerned about how AvroTros communicates with Eurovision entries. “Yes. I have now experienced how the AvroTros communicates to people who have submitted a song. Confusing.”

“You could submit a song, and within a second you would receive: ‘We’ll let you know on December 1 and if you don’t hear anything, it’s not you.’ Very clear, just for that reason people were called, managers were spoken to and you could ask for feedback. I found that very awkward. I would say: ‘You are or you are not’, that’s it, that’s it,” he grumbles.
