Rome, Ivkovic the jewel pursued by half of Europe

The Giallorossi club announces the arrival of the 16-year-old Croatian midfielder on Twitter

With a tweet, this afternoon, Roma announced the purchase of Mate Ivkovic, Croatian midfielder born in 2006, coming from Hajduk Split. The Giallorossi club has not always made official the arrival of new grafts for the youth sector in the past via social media, more than anything else to not put too much pressure on them, but this time it is different. The boy, in fact, a midfielder who turned 16 on January 4th, is considered one of the best young players in his country and had offers from half of Europe. The most concrete: Salzburg and, in Italy, Juventus and Atalanta. Imposing physique despite his young age (one meter 91 for 77 kilos), he has technique and vision of the game and it cost Rome 500 thousand euros. His arrival is part of an agreement that also includes a partnership with Hadjuk Spalato to monitor the best Croatian talents, as is Ivkovic who despite being under 16 has already played under age for both the club and the national team. In Trigoria he will split between Under 17 and Under 18.

Felix example

The boy and his family chose Roma, after long reflections, also thanks to the effect that has generated the use of many young people in the first team. Felix, of course, the most striking example. Pinto (also with the collaboration of the head of the youth sector Vergine) and Mourinho worked to open the doors of the first team to many players and this had an impact on the choice of the young Croatian midfielder. Given how much Mourinho is keen to have a director in the squad, naturally awaiting more immediate signings next summer, Roma are trying to build their future at home. Both by enhancing the local children and by investing in young people who are appreciated at European level.
