Deepfake versions of Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood – all looking the same as they did about half a century ago – perform their new single “In the Stars” in a video directed by François Rousselet.

This version of the Stones plays the song at a house party and gets actress Odessa A’zion doing moves à la Jagger. The video, which takes on increasingly surreal features with several drummers and guitarists, gives a foretaste of their upcoming album “Foreign Tongues”, which will be released on July 10th – and for which the band has now also revealed the tracklist.

A’zion, who received a BAFTA nomination for her role in “Marty Supreme,” joins the long tradition of It girls and It boys who have appeared in Stones videos. Previous cast members include Sydney Sweeney, Paul Mescal, Nicholas Hoult, Kristen Stewart and Angelina Jolie, among others. As expected, A’zion is over the moon. “Are you serious? This is my dream,” she said in a statement. “The first record I ever owned and listened to cover to cover was Tattoo You. I’m obsessed with the Rolling Stones. That’s definitely on my bucket list.”

Deepfake meets Stones legend

Rousselet, who had previously featured Sweeney and Stewart in their respective Stones clips, used Deep Voodoo deepfake technology to visually rejuvenate the band members.

The band recorded the album at London’s Metropolis Studios. Guest musicians on “Foreign Tongues” include Steve Winwood, Paul McCartney, Robert Smith of The Cure and Chad Smith of the Red Hot Chili Peppers – and there is a special appearance by the band’s late drummer Charlie Watts.

“We recorded this in LA with Charlie,” Jagger said at a press event teasing the album. “It’s a real fast punk rocker. A really fast song.” However, he left it open which track it was.

Tracklist and Amy Winehouse cover

The Stones had previously released another single from the album: the opening track “Rough and Twisted”. Wood revealed in an interview on “The Tonight Show” that the tracklist also includes a Stones version of an Amy Winehouse song, “You Know I’m No Good.”
