The former no. 6 in the world will face the Frenchman Rinderknech. Among the Italians on the pitch also Cobolli, Arnaldi and Darderi. Among the women Sabalenka from 12 on Chatrier
Tomorrow will be the day dedicated to the second rounds of the upper part of the men’s draw. So, mainly, Jannik Sinner’s day. The world no.1 will take the field at 12, first match of the day on Philippe Chatrier, against Juan Manuel Cerundolo. Jannik won with a triple 6-2 the only previous one, dating back to 2023 on the grass of Wimbledon. Of course, the conditions in Paris are very different, especially considering the extreme heat these days. Which could complicate a match at 12. Considering this, it is clear that Sinner will not be the only Italian on the main court of Roland Garros.

In the evening session, not before 8.15pm, Matteo Berrettini will descend on the Chatrier. The former world no.6, now 105, will face the host Arthur Rinderknech. The world no.22 is the best-ranked Frenchman still in the competition: theirs is one of the most anticipated second rounds, with Matteo withdrawing due to injury in the only previous round. In addition to Sinner and Berrettini, however, there will be three other Italians. Flavio Cobolli, n.10 seeded, will play at 11am on Court 7, first match of the day against Yibing Wu. The Roman won the only previous match against the Chinese, on the way to his title in Acapulco last February. On Court 14, the fourth match from 11am, around 5pm, Matteo Arnaldi will challenge former finalist Stefanos Tsitsipas, who beat him in the only match, here two years ago, in the round of 16. Finally, Luciano Darderi. The 14th seed will face Francisco Comesana in a non-trivial match, the third match on Court 6. The challenge, unprecedented on the main circuit level, will begin at around 5pm.

Italians aside, there is no shortage of interesting encounters. Aryna Sabalenka, world no.1, will face Elsa Jacquemot in her third match from 12pm on Chatrier. On Lenglen, at 11am, the 2009 Frenchman Moise Kouame (the first to win a Slam match of his year) will open against Vallejo, followed by Grabher-Anisimova, Gauff-Sherif and Collignon-Shelton, this time around 5pm. All the best Americans still competing. However, Simonne Mathieu is also worth following, with former WTA n.1 Naomi Osaka against Donna Vekic, Olympic silver medalist in Paris 2024, at 11am. Below is Cerundolo-Gaston and Auger-Aliassime, seeded n.4, against Burruchaga. Furthermore, two very interesting matches: Hurkacz-Tiafoe, second on Court 14, therefore around 1pm, promises a spectacle. And also to follow the second meeting on Field 9, always the same time therefore, between Martin Landaluce and Vit Kopriva. The winner would be Sinner’s opponent in a possible third round.
