The German hope bearer Florian Lipowitz could take on the captain’s role at Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe with strong performances during the upcoming Tour de France.

“Yes, exactly,” replied the regular leader Primoz Roglic when asked whether after the first ten stages the better of the two professionals would go to the overall ranking.

The 35-year-old Roglic even trusts his teammate to the podium. “He showed a very high level, he was very strong at the Dauphiné,” said the Slovenian with reference to Lipowitz ‘third place overall at the tour general rehearsal in June: “Why shouldn’t he do it here at the Tour de France?”

Roglic is no longer concerned with the victory in view of his advanced cycling age. “As for me, I don’t care. I know which other races I won,” said Roglic, who triumphed four times at Vuelta a Espana and once at Giro d’Italia.
