Roger O’ Donnell shared a moving memorial video for Perry “Teddy” Bamonte on Facebook and YouTube. The The Cureguitarist and keyboardist died over Christmas after a “short illness,” as the Cure website says. Bamonte was 65 years old.
The approximately five-minute clip “Perry Archangelo Bamonte 1960-2025” shows photo montages from Perry Bamonte’s life, accompanied by a Gothic piece. The clip was put together by the user “Bruno Brunning’s Strange Machine”.
“Bruno a dear friend and colleague from Cure world made a tribute video for Perry,” writes Roger O’Donnell, referring to Bruno’s connection to the band.
Fans say goodbye
Countless fans of Perry Bamonte and The Cure expressed their condolences in the comment sections on Facebook and YouTube. “Perry has always been one of The Cure’s secret weapons, just like Porl. In my head he has never stopped being part of The Cure. Until now, and that hurts,” one wrote.
Another: “Wonderful tribute to Teddy. It still seems completely impossible to believe that Teddy, who mingled with fans like he was just another guy, is no longer here. We all have lost something when someone with the kindness that Teddy had leaves this life.”
Shortly after Perry Bamonte’s death, Cure keyboardist Roger O’Donnell remembered his lost bandmate with a photo of the two of them from the happy Cure days.
Farewell to family and band
Perry Bamonte’s wife Donna posted a photo slider on her Facebook page with 41 images reflecting on the couple’s years together. She wrote: “Perry Archangelo Bamonte. My heartbeat, my soul. I have had the honor of spending over half of my life with you. I am so lucky to have the privilege of being called your wife. I am so lucky to have loved you. I hope you will pick me up when it is time for me to meet God. I will love you forever. Donna xxx”.
Now The Cure will no longer continue as a sextet, but as a quintet. The seat to the right of Reeves Gabrels will remain free on the band’s 2026 summer tour. It is still unclear how Robert Smith and colleagues will pay live tribute to the late friend, who returned in 2022 after a twelve-year break from Cure.
