Roger (86) inconsolable by the death of his New Zealand girlfriend Rosalind (81): “The competent authorities have destroyed our lives”

It was one of the most moving stories in 2024. Bruges resident Roger Herman and his girlfriend Rosalind Walker had found each other again after 60 years. But the New Zealander had to leave again because her residence permit was expiring. The story now has an even more tragic ending after Rosalind died in hospital this week. “Things went wrong when she visited the doctor,” says Roger between tears of sadness and anger.
