Roelof Bisschop has been appointed chairman of the Visserij Werkafel Visserij by the State Secretary for Agriculture, Fisheries, Food Security and Nature Jean Rummenie. Together with the various parties from the fishing sector and representatives of NGOs, Bisschop will draw up an implementation agenda for the vision of food from the sea and large waters.
A central work table is started for this, after which three thematic work tables along the lines of the vision of food from the sea and large waters are organized: food, entrepreneurship and space. Member of De Werktables are the producer organizations, the Visfederatie, the Pelagic Freezer Trawler Association (PFA), Stichting de Noordzee, the North Sea Consultation (NZO), De Vogelbescherming, Netviswerk, the Administrative Platform Fisheries (BPV) and the Fish Affairs National Consultation (Nova) .
“With the appointment of Roelof Bisschop we get someone with a lot of experience,” says State Secretary Rummenie. “It is someone whose heart lies with the fishing sector and I am therefore pleased that he starts as chairman of the Visserij Werkafel.”
Bisschop: “There is a thorough vision of food from the sea and large waters. It is valuable that it is recognized that fishing and aquaculture can contribute to a healthy food package. It is now important to translate that vision into a work program that offers a sustainable perspective. ”
“The purpose of this work table is to do that together with all parties involved appeals to me. As chairman I would like to commit myself to that, “says Bisschop. “I am confident that in good consultation we can arrive at a beautiful, realistic and widely supported implementation agenda.”
