Rode has an eye on the end of his career: “Make no secret of it”

Frankfurt / Main (AP) – Eintracht Frankfurt’s captain Sebastian Rode is concerned about the end of his career in view of his injury problems.

“At my age it would be presumptuous not to think about it,” said the 31-year-old in a “Bild” interview. “I still have a good two years of contract and I make no secret of the fact that it won’t go much longer after that. If at all…” But it’s not like “that the topic keeps me busy. I still want so much play as much as possible and help the team, we’ll see about the rest.”

Rode had to undergo an operation on his left knee in mid-August last year and only returned to training during the season. In the meantime, the midfielder is once again a top performer for Eintracht, who will play at VfB Stuttgart on Saturday (3:30 p.m. / Sky). Looking at his injury history, it is “clear that I can no longer act like I did when I was young,” said Rode. “But I’m trying to keep my style of play as good as possible.”
