Rode fails: Eintracht Frankfurt captain is missing in the Champions League

“Until further notice” injured

Eintracht Frankfurt has to do without captain Sebastian Rode in the first Champions League game in the club’s history. The 31-year-old midfielder sustained a muscle injury in his thigh during the Hessian Bundesliga team’s 4-0 home win against RB Leipzig last Saturday. He had to be substituted after 32 minutes, coach Oliver Glasner brought on new signing Junior Dina Ebimbe.

According to the club on Monday, Rode will be out for an indefinite period and will also miss the premiere in the “premier class” against Sporting Lisbon on Wednesday. For Rode, the bad luck with injuries from the previous season, when he only played in 17 of 34 Bundesliga games, continues. So far this season he has always been in the squad and has played five times – but never for more than 90 minutes.
