Robin Koch from Frankfurt spoke to Nagelsmann on the phone

Robin Koch won with Eintracht Frankfurt against TSG Hoffenheim on Sunday. After the game he commented on the DFB team – and hinted at his return.

Robin Koch was the focus of Eintracht Frankfurt’s 3-1 home win against TSG Hoffenheim. The defender initially didn’t look good when he conceded the goal after six minutes because he didn’t jump up when a corner was taken. But it was Koch who made amends for his own mistake and equalized after just over half an hour. Frankfurt then turned the game around.

The 27-year-old also caused a stir after the game. As the portal “Fussball.News” reports, Koch could be one of the players in national coach Julian Nagelsmann’s squad for the international matches against France and the Netherlands next Thursday (March 23 and 26). The SGE actor’s statements at least made people sit up and take notice.

Koch about Nagelsmann: “We spoke on the phone on Sunday morning”

When asked whether he had received a WhatsApp from Nagelsmann, Koch said: “No, but we spoke on the phone on Sunday morning.” He didn’t reveal the exact content of the conversation, but he emphasized meaningfully: “That will definitely come out in the next day or two.” A clear indication of a possible nomination.

It would be a comeback with a build-up time of more than two years. The last time Koch was on the pitch for the national team was in June 2021, in a friendly match under Joachim Löw. The former DFB coach also took him to the subsequent European Championships. However, Koch remained unused in all games.

As a result, Koch was no longer considered in the DFB team under Hansi Flick. Koch’s move to Frankfurt now seems to be paying off. The Hessians only brought him from Leeds United in the summer. Since then he has been able to impress with strong performances. Apparently also Julian Nagelsmann.
