Robert Smith announces the title of the forthcoming Cure album

Robert Smith reveals more about the new The Cure albums: Two records are on the way, one of which could be released as early as September. Smith has now announced the first title.

“Songs Of The Lost World” will be the name of one of the two planned albums, he announced to the “NME”. “The artwork is already there, the order is in, it’s almost done!” As for the exact release date, he’s keeping a low profile, but he can give an estimate: “It’ll take a while because of the records, but it could be in September come. I wish it could come out now.” The corona pandemic is slowing down album production.

Each album should contain ten songs, and four vocals would be missing for number one, says Smith. “Mixing is next month, April 1st, so I’ve got three weeks left,” the frontman said of the production progress.

“Relenting Doom and Darkness” awaits fans

Smith also commented on the style of the new records: “The first is relentless destruction and darkness”; he even reinforces his choice of words, saying it’s the “darkest thing we’ve ever done.” The second, on the other hand, he announces as “upbeat”.

A third album, which will be Smith’s solo work, “will not come until next year”. He says he has to go back to the record and go in a different direction. “I’ve wanted to do this for so long and I feel like I only have one chance at it.”

The difficulties Smith had with the preparations for the new records he already told last February. Robert Smith was last heard on the Chvrches song “How Not To Drown”. For this collaboration, they received the award for best song in the UK artist category at the BandLab Awards 2022 on Wednesday (March 2nd).
