Robert Plant commemorates late Low singer Mimi Parker with ‘Monkey’ cover

During a performance together with Suzi Dian, Robert Plant commemorated Mimi Parker, drummer and singer of the band Low, who died on Saturday (November 5th). The two musicians from Saving Grace covered Parker’s play “Monkey” at the King’s Theater Glasgow on Sunday (06 November).

Opening the show, Plant shared, “We were drawn to the music of the amazing duo Low from Duluth, Minnesota, and tonight we know that we sadly lost one of those two people. So we’re giving our songs to Mimi and Alan tonight.”

The former Led Zeppelin singer had already covered the piece on his solo album “Band of Joy” in 2010.

Countless others mourn Parker’s death after her cancer

Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy honored the singer with an audio recording of “I Hear… Goodnight” as part of his Starship Casual newsletter.

Producer Steve Albini tweeted: “I heard the news in the most undignified circumstances, surrounded by degenerate, stuck and swearing people, in a conference room in Deerfield. I was stunned for a moment, the sound of her voice echoing in my memory, beautiful and heartbreaking. Bon voyage, Mimi Parker. Rest in peace.”

Stuart Braithwaite, guitarist for Mogwai, posted: “The news of Mimi breaks my heart. Sending all my love to Alan and his family.”

Low’s last album “HEY WHAT” together with Mimi Parker was released in 2021. The album was produced by BJ Burton.
