Mühren, who turned 37 this week, made his appearance at the start of the second half. At that moment it was 2-1 thanks to a goal by left back Yannick Leliendal. In the tenth minute of extra time, Mühren seemed to immortalize himself in his village. “I saw that violation. Kneiterdom. Anyway, that’s what VAR is for,” said Mühren.
And so, with the relegation of FC Volendam, Mühren’s goal-rich career comes to a sad end. “Now on holiday. Let everything sink in first.”
