Robert Helenius experienced a startling transformation – He raised wild records from the bench

Helenius has not relaxed his meat diet.

Robert Helenius has not hit the last backhand straight in the ring.

However, in winter and spring, he still lifted iron in his gym in Åland, and did not give a single thought to boxing.

A knockout loss experienced in New York For Deontay Wilder was a mentally heavy place.

However, the return to the training hall came a couple of days after Huili, even though the coach Johan Lindström suggested a couple of weeks vacation.

– I called Johan to ask if we should go to work out a bit to feel better, Helenius opens.

For half a year, Helenius focused on raw strength training. Helenius commanded, iron obeyed.

– After the match, I weighed 118 kilos. Then, due to the training, my weight increased to almost 130 kilos. I was trying to build muscle. I ate a lot and did only strength training because I wanted to get stronger and set new records.

The records were broken, and the boxing giant standing in front now at 115 kilograms would no longer be able to lift them.

– In the deadlift, my record was 275 kilos, in the bench press 173 kilos and in the squat 220 kilos.

The Wilder match was a financial success for Helenius and his company. Suomalaistahtih, however, refuses to comment on his financial affairs.

– You have to remember that camps are expensive. And as all entrepreneurs know, the taxman takes quite a lot of money. Let’s say I can’t stay lying on the couch for the rest of my life, he spins.

Helenius’ diet has been a big topic of conversation. And the diet hasn’t changed since the last stories.

– I have reached the point where I eat more than two kilos of meat a day to gain weight. On the other hand, if I want to lose weight, I leave the amount of meat at a kilo or one and a half.

From the salad portion brought to the table, Helenius pops the chicken, fruit, cheese and mayonnaise. The rest is left on the plate.

Koutsi Lindström, who hunts and butchers animals, is responsible for the boxer’s food preparation.

On his head, Lindström has put a cap with the text “hardcore carnivore”.

There was speculation about the continuation of Helenius’ career for months, until the sports fans were surprised by the real thing.

Long-time boxing promoter Pasi Pekkonen booked the traditional Olavinlinna for August 5th. Helenius and Mika Mielonen.

Mielonen, 41, who started boxing for real only three years ago, has fought six times. All matches have ended in knockout victories. However, the difference to Helenius of 35 professional matches is huge.

– For a long time I had the feeling that I wouldn’t take any more boxing matches, until my manager told me about this offer. I thought I could take one now and even more after that.

So the career continues, even though further plans are still completely open.

– This match is a good place to get a feel for boxing again. Let’s see how it feels.

For the last month or so, Helenius has been training in a variety of ways: pistas, sacks and runs. Strength training once a week is enough.

He doesn’t want to arrive at Olavinlinna with his jacket open.

– The last time I was here, I broke my arm at the very beginning, Helenius laughs at the memory from 2018.

– I am going to take the match seriously. Mielonen is a big man and hard to knock down, he continues, referring to his opponent’s knockout statistics.
