Robbers smash jeweller’s display cases with axes

Police have launched a manhunt after an armed robbery at a jewelry store in Halsteren. Several perpetrators smashed two display cases with hatchets. Two shell casings lie outside on the street. Police say the robbers fired into the air.

Just after two o’clock, several masked men entered the Ooms jewelry store on Dorpsstraat. Several customers and employees were present at the time. The perpetrators smashed display cases and probably took jewelry with them.

Once outside, the perpetrators would have fired into the air. There are two bullet casings on the street. No one was injured in the robbery.

Manhunt
The police are searching with all their might for the three or four robbers and are keeping an eye on all entrances and exits to Halsteren. The robbers fled in a black Renault Talisman.

Anyone who saw the robbers is asked to call 911. “Do not approach the robbers,” emphasizes a spokesman.
