Since Linda de Mol has been discredited by the abuse scandal surrounding The Voice of Holland, she hands the presentation of Ik Hou Van Holland to Rob Kemps for at least one season. His first series started last night with 606 thousand viewers (15 percent market share) on SBS 6, a very disappointing score.

IHVH disappoints

Never before in the almost 15-year history of the program has a new episode of Ik Hou Van Holland captivated so few viewers. The program already lost its shine after the move from RTL 4 to SBS 6, but this really beats everything. Apparently the format is no longer strong enough to compete with good weather.

Of the fourteen seasons on RTL 4, Ik Hou Van Holland managed to achieve an average of at least two million (!) viewers with no fewer than eight series. After the move to SBS 6, in 2019, the viewership decreased drastically: the first series attracted an average of almost 1.2 million viewers, the second series 847 thousand viewers.

Historical figures

This third I Love Holland series on SBS 6 dives further into this. Yet viewing figures authority Tina Nijkamp speaks of historical figures. Why? “Because it has been a very long time since SBS 6 had more viewers on Saturday evening than RTL 4. It is rare that SBS 6 also scores better in the target group than RTL 4 and NPO 1.”

Did RTL 4 score even worse yesterday? Yes, Lego Masters with Jamai Loman as the new host already started disappointingly last week, but yesterday it didn’t even manage to conquer a place in the top 15: only 478 thousand people (12 percent) watched it. “Probably this evening will also set the tone for the coming weeks.”

Jaded and chewed out

This is a drama, especially for Lego Masters, says Tina. “In capital letters, this program was a huge ratings hit in its first two seasons with 1.5 to 1.8 million viewers and now only a third of that is left. Terrible for the station and the team. Too much change at once is never a good idea for a TV hit.”

Yet the score of Ik Hou Van Holland is also a downer. Televizier journalist Jef Willemsen: “What one person calls familiar, another finds jaded and chewed out. Rob is not doing badly, absolutely not. But the format doesn’t feel really up-to-date anymore. A minute and a half for one round of ‘no yes/no/uh’ is an eternity in the TikTok era.”

NPO 1 wins prime time

NPO 1 charmed more viewers than the studio entertainment on RTL 4 and SBS 6: Ik Departure XL scored 979 thousand viewers (24 percent). Also at half past nine, NPO 1 won RTL 4 and SBS 6: Matthijs Goes Door took gold at this time with 686 thousand viewers (19 percent), also not a resounding score.

SBS 6 follows with 560 thousand viewers (15 percent) for De Alleskunner VIPS, RTL 4 lags behind with 426 thousand viewers (12 percent) for De 1 Percent Quiz.

Humberto disappoints

The poor score of the RTL 4 entertainment at prime time was not made up for by Humberto Tan late in the evening. His new talk show Humberto on Saturday started with 297 thousand viewers (11 percent).

The presenter responds on Instagram: “Not the score that makes us happy. But we, the team, were happy with the atmosphere and structure of the program. Tonight again and again next week. keep pushing Max Verstappen would say. And that’s it: keep pushing!!!”
