Rob Jetten has quite a tailwind. Even at the table at Today Inside, the new Prime Minister is praised and that helps him enormously in public opinion. “He is a phenomenon.”

It is a fact: Rob Jetten is the new Prime Minister of our country. The D66 leader is widely praised for his youthful enthusiasm. Even the men of Today Inside are enthusiastic and that helps him enormously in public opinion. The VI trio is adept at creating negative sentiment around certain people, but Jetten is spared that.

Phenomenon

Johan Derksen thinks that Jetten is doing very well. “I think it’s a phenomenon, really. He does it so well and so convincingly and so relaxed. I think he is better than Rutte, in talking his way out.”

Colleague Wilfred Genee: “Well, that is the master of them all.”

Johan: “He has it under control from the first minute.”

Wilfred: “Yes, but he hasn’t really been under pressure yet.”

Appearance

Jetten simply has a good appearance, says Johan. “He also shows that he enjoys that battle of words.”

Colleague René van der Gijp: “If you see the ease with which he does it and if you compare it with the Prime Minister we had before… That was not a sight when you looked at it, was it? Then this is fine, isn’t it?”

Johan: “That was a runner. Not a prime minister.”

A bit sticky

The only problem Johan has with Jetten is that he shows off his lover so much. “I find that a bit tacky.”

Jetten’s friend is also described as the ‘Argentine hockey hunk’. The two are cuddling on social media. “Nobody blames that man for being homosexual, that is widely accepted, but other ministers don’t pick on their wives all the time either.”

On the shield

Wilfred is starting to fear for Jetten. “The only difficult thing for Rob Jetten now is: you have now hoisted him onto the shield, in three months he will be on the ground. There is no other way.”

Johan concludes: “He’s not in my party, but I think he’s doing an excellent job. And the way he does it, you can keep it up for a long time, because he doesn’t get emotional or angry, he lets it slide.”
