Despite a fall, Lisa Brennauer defended her title in the individual time trial at the German road cycling championships in Sauerland.

After a demanding 27.5 kilometers with start and finish in Marsberg, the 34-year-old from Kempten prevailed in a time of 42:23 minutes with a 14-second lead over Lisa Klein. Third was 25 seconds behind Brennauer Hannah Ludwig.

Brennauer fell shortly before the finish in the last corner, but still crossed the finish line on foot with her bike in her hands. “I’m just too fast in the last corner. I thought that was it now. When the announcer then said that I was German champion again, it was of course a huge feeling,” said Brennauer.
