From the point of view of the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), the peak of the current corona wave is now clearly in the past.
“The peak of the current wave has now clearly been passed,” writes the RKI in the weekly report on Thursday evening, which mainly refers to data from the past week.
In the previous issue, the RKI described it as only likely that the summit had been reached or possibly already exceeded.
The current assessment is based, among other things, on the fall in the nationwide seven-day incidence of 19 percent in a weekly comparison.

According to the report, the numbers also fell in all age groups and in almost all federal states. Overall, however, the health experts are still talking about a very high infection pressure – more than a million corona cases were reported within a week.
On Twitter, the RKI again called for responsible behavior: the development of the next few weeks depends on this.
