RKC Waalwijk lost 2-3 to Feyenoord on Saturday. Coach Henk Fraser’s team picked up two of its six points this season in the past two games and also started well against Feyenoord. But in the end the Rotterdam formation came out on top.
The home team took the lead in the twelfth minute. Richonell Margaret released Polish captain Oskar Zawada with a through ball for goalkeeper Timon Wellenreuther. The Feyenoord keeper had no answer to Zawada’s shot in the far corner. It was RKC’s only goal attempt in the first half.
Igor Paixão had already been dangerous for Feyenoord and was also responsible for the equalizer in the 24th minute. The winger’s low cross ended up in the goal via RKC player Yassin Oukili. About five minutes later, Santiago Giménez hit RKC goalkeeper Jeroen Houwen with a shot from close range.
Anis Hadj-Moussa gave Feyenoord the lead just after halftime with his fifth goal in the past six games. Houwen had no answer to the winger’s shot in the short corner. After a few chances, Oukili equalized from close range in the 72nd minute. The joy at the bottom of the Eredivisie ended after two minutes, when Paixão scored on a pass from Hwang In-beom. Zawada then hit the post in the hunt for the 3-3.
Due to this defeat, RKC remains last with only six points.
