RKC is unable to make up for its poor first half and loses 3-2

RKC Waalwijk did not manage to score any points against Fortuna Sittard. Limburg lost 3-2. The basis for the loss was laid in the first half: after more than half an hour it was already 3-0. The bottom line from Waalwijk fought back well in the second half, but it was not enough.

RKC started the match very unconcentrated. A goal by Loreintz Rosier was disallowed for offside, but Alessio Da Cruz scored the 1-0 moments later. After half an hour, the dangerous Kristoffer Peterson found the far corner for the Limburgers’ second goal, after which Ezequiel Bullaude headed in a corner from Peterson: 3-0.

Fortuna therefore seemed to be heading for an easy evening. RKC player Mohamed Ihattaren, who was a starter in the Eredivisie for the first time since February 2021, then appeared a few times. The visitors then returned the favor just before half-time through Oskar Zawada, who headed home from a corner, making it 3-1.

The Polish striker was also responsible for the 3-2, again with his head. With half an hour left on the clock, the tension in the match was back. Both teams then had chances, but nothing changed in the score, meaning RKC traveled back to Waalwijk empty-handed.

For Fortuna Sittard it was the first victory after four competition matches without a win.
