RKC Waalwijk was not able to perform stunts in the Johan Cruijf Arena, even though the club was not outplayed. Ajax, the number two in the Premier League, won a measly 2-1.

The match started dramatically for RKC. After just a few minutes, Ajax striker Brian Brobbey fell over the knee of RKC defender Luuk Wouters and Ajax was awarded a penalty. This was used by Steven Berghuis: 1-0 after four minutes. A few minutes later, Ajax’s second goal was already on the boards, after a fumble goal by Kenneth Taylor. RKC therefore seemed ready for the slaughter and a monster score.

After the break, RKC still had no problems and the lantern bearer got away well with two disallowed goals from Ajax. Furthermore, Ajax played boring and predictable and at far too slow a pace.

At the end of the match, RKC scored an unexpected goal. Mo Ihattaren dribbled into the sixteen-meter area and shot the ball in via the inside of the post with a precise shot: 2-1.

Only after the tying goal did RKC suddenly seem to believe in a result in Amsterdam, but Ajax played the remaining minutes professionally, leaving the three points in Amsterdam.
