RKC – Ajax permanently stopped after collision between Brobbey and Vaessen

 

The match between RKC and Ajax has been definitively stopped. Brian Brobbey and Etienne Vaessen had an unfortunate collision. The RKC goalkeeper remained unconscious, after which referee Pol van Boekel decided to temporarily stop. The score was 2-3 at the time of the strike. The RKC players could no longer play because of the shock.

In the first half, Ajax took the lead through Brian Brobbey on a pass from Carlos Forbs. Michiel Kramer then scored the equalizer. Steven Bergwijn made it 1-2 from a penalty. Through Yassin Oukili, RCK again leveled with Ajax. Steven Berghuis helped Ajax take the new lead.

Things went wrong between Brobbey and Etienne Vaessen in the final phase. Brobbey collided with Vaessen, leaving the goalkeeper lying motionless on the field. The medical specialists quickly ran onto the field and provided first aid. Referee Pol van Boekel decided to temporarily strike. A few minutes later it became clear that the match was definitively stopped.
