Ringa Ropo tells Iltalehti about his current life after artificial joint surgery and widow.

Ropo, who rarely seen in the public, told Iltalehti last fall that he hardly missed the public. Now, Ropo says the return to the public is right now, because his curiosity for the program arose.
– I thought it would be pretty exciting to do. I have to say that this was a great experience, he praises the program at a press conference.
– I said at Casting that I don’t need this for publicity, but I do this for fun, he adds.
A couple of years ago, Ropo got artificial joints on both knees. Ropo shows Iltalehti that he still has scars on his operation. However, he assures that major knee problems were saved in the descriptions.
– During one task, I had to diminish a little and it had consequences. I can’t say any more, he says.
By the way, Ropo says he has recovered well from the surgery. However, the treatment path has been diverse.
– It hasn’t gone without any problems. I was also a purposeful patient. I had to dim my mind and also take that treatment forward. So I went forward and back all the time, and it was terribly humiliating to myself. It was a learning experience.

With treatments, Ropo has recovered the sport back in his life. He says he has already been running and cycling.
Widow’s life
Ropo was widowed about two years ago when his spouse Heikki Herva Died in the spring of 2023.
– The first year was really difficult. But this year has been pretty good. It says something that I can work quite differently. During the first year, I have not been able to do a lot of anything and that’s why my customer acquisition has been quite poor. But yes it will improve, Ropo says.
– I’ve been moving forward in it, but Goofy never disappears from my life, he adds.
Ropo says that almost every journalist asked if he has finally been widowed or went after a new love.
– I am not terribly interested in what others think. I live my life and have a lot of time for my children and grandchildren and work. I do not feel the need to go to my life in one direction.

New job
In June, it was reported that Ropo is now working his daughter Ella Junnila and a pole vaulter Urho Kujanpää as a sponsor manager. Now, Ropo specifies that he has been a sponsor manager in Kujanpää for about a year and for his daughter for two years.
According to Ropo, there are differences in the salary of current work compared to his athlete times.
– We didn’t get anything. I have been eighth in the Grand Prix final, which would probably mean € 10,000 today. I remember I got 4,000 marks then [noin 1 140 euroa]. Now we are in quite different spheres, it has evolved all the time.
– Now, if we are talking about these sponsor cooperation agreements, I remember getting money at all, but I was able to stay somewhere. It has been different at that time.
