Rihanna will headline the 2023 Superbowl

Singer Rihanna confirmed her comeback for the Superbowl halftime show with a tweet on September 25. She posted a picture on which her a football holds up and as a description only one point. Her performance was also recognized by the NFL approved. When the announcement is made, the NFL their Instagram description from “National Football League” to “National window League” – a nod to Rihanna’s cosmetics brand”window beauty”.

Her upcoming appearance on February 12, 2023 gives many fans hope for a new album. The singer from Barbados released her still current album ANTI in 2016.

In spite of euphoria also criticism

Rihanna also faced criticism for declining to appear on the halftime show in 2019 to meet the NFLQuarterback Colin Kaepernick to show solidarity. He got on his knees during the national anthem in the 2016/2017 season to protest against police violence and racism.

Superbowl halftime show

It is still unclear whether other artists will perform during the halftime show. The Roc Nation agency not only represents Rihanna, but is also responsible for the 2023 show. Owned by rap icon Jay-Z, Roc Nation also represents artists such as J.Cole, Alicia Keys and Lil Uzi Vert.

Last year were dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, Kendrick Lamar, 50 Cent and Anderson Paak represented on the show. The year before it was The Weeknd and in 2020 Jennifer Lopez and Shakira took care of the musical program.

Why the long break?

In the years since her most recent album and accompanying tour, Rihanna has focused on expanding her Fenty Beauty brand. In May 2022, she had a child with rapper A$AP Rocky.
