In 2027, the German Ice Hockey Association wants to host the women’s World Cup for the first time in addition to the men’s World Cup.

DEB President Peter Merten confirmed this on Friday during the Germany Cup in Landshut. There have been discussions with the IIHF World Association with President Luc Tardif and the DEB in the past few days.

“It will be on the IIHF committee’s agenda at the end of November and beginning of December. Then there will be a quick decision. We will know at the beginning of January,” said Merten.

Women’s final and men’sOpening game in one place

The plan is for the women’s tournament to take place directly before the men’s World Cup, which begins in Düsseldorf and Mannheim. The women’s final will also be held in the same city where the men’s event will start.

A combined Germany Cup between the two DEB national teams is currently taking place in Landshut for the first time.
