“Climate change has a heavy impact for people, environment and nature,” says Luk Durnez, spokesperson for Climate Express Westhoek. “Think of forest fires, floods and the salinization of our polders. We call on everyone to work together on a fast, decisive and just climate policy.”
The tour is all about meeting and cooperation. Cyclists from all over Belgium and northern France drive along, exchange experiences and forge plans for the future. A large part of the route runs through green valleys and nature reserves.
The end point is Brussels, where the participants join the large national climate march on Sunday 5 October.
