Riddle about unknown substance in Maas solved

The mystery surrounding an unknown substance in the Meuse in the Netherlands, as a result of which the river could no longer be used for drinking water, has been solved. It appears to be a natural substance produced by algae and plants. The substance can be removed by the purification installation of Waterleidingmaatschappij Limburg (WML). There is no danger to public health.
