It is really strangely quiet around Rick Brandsteder after his admission to an addiction clinic. We haven’t seen him in over a year. What happened? “Nobody knows.”
Rick Brandsteder has made all kinds of programs for RTL for years, including the ratings cannon Expedition Robinson, but we have not seen him on television for quite some time now. After an embarrassing video was leaked, he was admitted to a clinic at the end of 2022 due to his addiction to alcohol and drugs. Then he deleted his Insta.
Warm coat
We have never heard from Rick since and that is a shame, says Privé star journalist Jan Uriot. If you now see how often Ruben Nicolai is on television, such a Rick is a welcome addition to the RTL stable of stars, he believes. “That man already does so much. He has truly become the games king of RTL. I think that’s a shame.”

Where’s Rick?
Then of course Rick has to be found first. “Where has Rick gone? We are all waiting for Rick’s comeback. He can do quite a bit, especially in the light genre. He has proven this with Expeditie Robinson, De Bachelor and Wie is de Sjaak, Wie is de Chef and Wie is de Reisleider.”
Rick may have withdrawn from public life. “Where has he gone? He came out of that clinic in January 2023 for his alcohol problem.”
‘We do not know’
Jan and his colleagues from Privé never saw Rick anywhere again. “We only saw him briefly at Het Perfecte Plaatje and since then we don’t know where Rick has gone.”
The Perfect Picture had already been recorded before Rick entered that clinic. “He just has to come back. What is going on? I think RTL has forgotten him or they don’t need him anymore.”
