Rick Brandsteder caused an embarrassing moment at the funeral of his father Ron Brandsteder last year, says Private Boss Evert Santegoeds. “’Well, Rick, that’s enough!’ his mother shouted.”
It was a striking move: after many years on television, Rick Brandsteder suddenly decided to end his celebrity status and enjoy the million-dollar legacy of his father Ron Brandsteder. He recently had to appear in court, but did not want to speak to the press there. He believes that the press should now treat him as a non-celebrity again.
Arrogant
Private boss Evert Santegoeds thinks this is a very wrong attitude. “Rick Brandsteder, yes, terrible! He should leave quickly, I think, from the Netherlands. Unsympathetic too, the way he arrived at that court. Arrogant too,” he fumes in the podcast Strictly Private.
He thinks the fine imposed on Rick for driving under the influence is a joke. “I think he got away with it very well. 1,600 euros is of course nothing for him.”
Painful speech
Telegraaf reporter Jordi Versteegden notices that Evert finds that boy horrible. “Oh, you don’t have a lot of positive words to say about it.”
Evert: “He also gave a speech at his father’s funeral, but just extemporaneously, without putting anything down on paper. At one point his mother shouted: ‘Well, Rick, that’s enough!’ Quite painful.”
‘Never heard of it!’
Then it must have been very bad, according to Jordi. “I’ve never heard anyone say that at a funeral.”
Evert concludes: “Neither did I, because I wasn’t there, but that’s it.”
