For the relatives, the judgment is “the only suitable punishment”, lawyer Sébas Diekstra responds afterwards. “She has caused so unimaginably suffering. Lifelong was inevitable.”

It was striking that a lot of family was present in the room. “They looked forward to the verdict. They were curious how the court punishes all this.” A second reason is that the son of Sam and Ineke decided to be in the ruling. He had to watch how K. killed his father. “He makes up for it according to circumstances,” said Diekstra. The counsel wants to share few details. “He comes through fairly resilient.”

K. hinted in a few comments in the hall on an appeal. Diekstra says he cannot imagine that the Court of Appeal in Leeuwarden will judge differently. “For the relatives it will again be a tough road that they have to go. I hope she will be saved. But that doesn’t seem to be the case.”

K.’s lawyer does not report a confirmation or appeal if requested. “I’m going to discuss that with my client.” Furthermore, she does not want to make any statements about the case.
