Richard Gere was honored with an award for life’s work at the Goya Spanish Film Award on February 8 in Granada. The actor used his speech to say what he really thinks of Trump.

“Unfortunately we chose politicians who do not inspire us as we want to be inspired,” Gere started before he continued: “I come from a point where we are in a very dark location in America, because we Have a tyrant and a racket as President of the United States. ”
In his speech, the actor stated: his home, the USA, is in a dark relationship with power and money – in his opinion, more badly than ever before. He pointed out that there would be “irresponsible billionaires” at the government leadership of the United States, which would “pose a danger for everyone on this planet”. His words were accompanied by approving whistles and applause.

In addition to his acting achievements, including in “Pretty Woman” or in “American Gigolo”, Gere has also made a name for himself with his ongoing activism. He has been working intensively for Tibet’s autonomy for a long time and the preservation of Tibetan culture. The region on the northern side of the Himalaya was taken by China in the mid -20th century, from whose government Tibet still suffers.
In 1987 Richard Gere was one of the founders of the Tibet House Us, for which he has also acted as chairman. Five years later, in 1992, he joined the board of the International Campaign for Tibet in order to influence the Tibetan movement on various national and international platforms. In the name of his activism work, Gere also met with the spiritual head of the Tibetans, the Dalai Lama, who lingered in exile in India.
